Electric Motor Concrete Vibrator
External Concrete Vibrator Motor (also known as Formwork Vibrator or Paddle Vibrator)
This is a type of external vibrator that is attached to concrete formwork (molds) to consolidate and compact concrete. It is widely used in construction projects such as bridges, precast concrete elements, pavements, and road surfaces.
Below is a comparison of two popular models: ZW Series (standard) and ZF Series (high frequency).
| Feature | ZW Series | ZF Series |
|---|---|---|
| Frequency | 50/60 Hz | 150 Hz (High Frequency) |
| Centrifugal Force | ~9.6 kN (980 kgf) | ~12 kN |
| Motor Power | 2.2 kW | 1.5 kW |
| Weight | ~34–36 kg | ~23 kg |
| Application | General concrete precast, pavement, floor slabs | High-grade bridge beams, T-beams, high-quality concrete, rapid formwork turnover |
Key Features & Working Principle
Working Principle: Eccentric weights are attached to both ends of the motor rotor. When the rotor spins at high speed, it generates centrifugal force, which is transferred to the formwork via the base plate, then indirectly consolidates the concrete.
Performance Advantages: High-frequency models (ZF Series) are highly efficient. They typically require only 20–30 seconds of vibration per cycle. They significantly improve the surface quality of concrete elements and increase formwork turnover rates. Premium external vibrators often feature fully enclosed, high-strength designs with cast aluminum alloy housing to reduce weight.
Selection Guide
General Applications → Choose ZW Series: For typical construction sites, pavement, or standard precast elements, the ZW Series (e.g., ZW-5, ZW-10) is cost-effective and well-proven.
High-Quality Precast → Choose High-Frequency ZF Series: For high-standard projects like highway or railway bridge beams, high-frequency vibrators (ZF Series) are recommended. Although slightly more expensive, their high-frequency force produces denser concrete and a smoother finish with almost no surface bubbles.
How to improve the efficiency of the motor?
Design and Manufacturing
Optimize Windings: Use high conductivity materials like copper or aluminum, and optimize winding turns, wire diameter, and form to reduce resistance and improve electromagnetic conversion efficiency.
Improve Core: Use high permeability, low-loss silicon steel sheets (e.g., quality cold-rolled silicon steel) to reduce hysteresis and eddy current losses.
Enhance Structure: Design optimal air gap length, stator, and rotor slot shapes to reduce air gap size and improve electromagnetic performance.
Improve Manufacturing Process**: Ensure quality control in core stacking and winding to bring motor parameters closer to design values.
Usage and Maintenance
Proper Selection: Choose a motor with the right power and type for the actual load, ensuring operation within the efficient range.
Optimize Parameters: For adjustable-speed motors, use methods like variable frequency drives to adjust supply frequency and voltage according to load, keeping them within rated ranges.
Regular Maintenance: Clean dust and debris, check bearing lubrication and wear, and replace damaged parts to reduce additional losses.
