What is a Helical Geared Motor?

 

 

Helical gear transmission: Its core component is the helical gear. Compared with the spur gear, the gear teeth of the helical gear are inclined. During the meshing process, the tooth surface contact is gradual, rather than the sudden contact and disengagement of the spur gear, which makes the transmission smoother and reduces vibration and noise.

It usually consists of two parts: the motor and the helical gear reducer. The motor provides power and transmits the power to the helical gear reducer through direct connection. After deceleration, the output shaft outputs the appropriate speed and torque. The overall structure is compact and easy to install.

Main Types of Helical Geared Motors

 

 

Inline Helical Geared Motor:

This is the most common type of helical gear motor, where the input and output shafts are aligned in a straight line (inline). It’s typically used for moderate reductions in speed and is very efficient.
Applications: Conveyors, industrial machinery, pumps.

 

Multi-Stage Helical Geared Motor:
This type consists of two or more stages of helical gearboxes, allowing for more significant reductions in speed and an increase in torque over single-stage gear motors. This type is used when very high torque or low speed is required.

Strong load-bearing capacity:

The helical gear has a large overlap and a large number of meshing gear teeth. When transmitting the same power, it has a higher load-bearing capacity than the spur gear and can withstand a larger load.

High transmission efficiency:

When the helical gears are meshed, the contact stress of the tooth surface is evenly distributed, the friction loss is small, and the transmission efficiency can usually reach more than 90%. Compared with some other types of reduction mechanisms, it has a higher energy transmission efficiency.

Wide range of reduction ratios:

Through different gear combinations, a wider range of reduction ratios can be achieved to meet the requirements of various equipment for different speeds and torques.

Good running stability:

As mentioned above, the meshing characteristics of the helical gears make it vibrate and make less noise during the transmission process, and run smoothly, which is crucial for some equipment with high requirements for running stability, such as precision machine tools, automated production lines, etc.
