What is a Helical Gearbox?
Gear Structure
Mainly composed of helical gears, including active helical gears and driven helical gears. The tooth profile of helical gears is spiral. Compared with spur gears, it has a large overlap and a large number of gear pairs meshing at the same time.
Shaft Arrangement
Usually a parallel shaft structure is adopted, and the input shaft and the output shaft are parallel to each other. This structure is convenient for connection and installation with other equipment.
Box Structure
Generally a sealed box made of cast iron or cast aluminum, with sufficient strength and rigidity to withstand the load during gear transmission, and play a good sealing and lubrication role to protect internal gears and bearings.
Performance Characteristics
Smooth Transmission
The overlap of helical gears is large when they are meshing, and the number of gear pairs involved in meshing is large, so the transmission is smooth, the vibration and noise are lower than those of spur gear reducers, and the advantages are more obvious under high speed and heavy load conditions.
High Load-bearing Capacity
Since the contact stress of the tooth surface of the helical gear is evenly distributed and the overlap is large, the load borne by a single gear tooth is relatively small, so the helical gear reducer has a high load-bearing capacity and can withstand large torque and radial loads.
High Transmission Efficiency
The transmission efficiency of helical gear reducers is usually above 90%. Compared with some other types of reducers, they have higher energy conversion efficiency and can effectively reduce energy consumption.
