NMRV040 Reducer

NMRV series orthogonal reducer is a new generation of worm gear reducer based on WP series. It has an advanced square box structure and high quality aluminum alloy. It was shaped by “high pressured whole casting” technology. “Small, light, fast cool, good-looking” is its specialty.

It has large output torque, smooth transmission, and low noise. Totally close structure, good sealing, free of maintenance, can adapt to comprehensive installation.

Direction of transmission

Unlike with ordinary gear trains, the direction of transmission (input shaft vs output shaft) is not reversible when using large reduction ratios. This is due to the greater friction involved between the worm and worm-wheel, and is especially prevalent when a single start (one spiral) worm is used. This can be an advantage when it is desired to eliminate any possibility of the output driving the input. If a multistart worm (multiple spirals) is used then the ratio reduces accordingly and the braking effect of a worm and worm-gear may need to be discounted, as the gear may be able to drive the worm.

Why Not Use Worm Gear Unit?

There is one especially glaring reason why one would not select a worm gear over a normal gear: Lubrication.

The movement between the wheel and the worm faces is totally sliding. There is no rolling part to the tooth contact or interaction. This makes them comparatively difficult to lubricate.

The lubricants needed are commonly very great viscosity (ISO 320 and higher) and thus are problematic to filter, and the lubricants needed are usually specialized in what they perform, needing a product to be on-site, particularly for that type of equipment.
