Function of Variable Frequency Drive (VFD)
Speed control: Adjust the motor speed smoothly without mechanical gears.
Energy saving: Especially for fans, pumps, compressors - significant power saving.
Soft start: Start the motor gently, reduce inrush current and mechanical shock.
Motor protection: Over-current, overload, over-voltage, under-voltage, and over-temperature protection.
Easy control: Can be controlled by external terminals, potentiometer, or communication (RS485, Modbus).

How to Choose the Right Motor Driver Controller
1. Match the Motor Type
Brushed DC motor → Brushed DC motor driver
BLDC / Brushless motor → BLDC driver / FOC controller
Stepper motor → Stepper motor driver
Different motors cannot share the same driver.

2. Voltage
The driver's voltage range must include your power supply voltage.
Example: 12V motor → choose 6–24V driver.

3. Current (Most Important)
Driver max current > motor rated current
Recommend:
Driver current ≥ Motor current × 1.5 ~ 2
Insufficient current → weak torque, overheating, shutdown.

4. Control Interface
Potentiometer speed control: Analog input driver
Arduino / MCU: PWM + DIR control
RC car / remote control: Servo PWM signal
High precision positioning: Closed-loop with encoder
Industrial / PLC: RS485 / CAN / Modbus

5. Protection Features
Choose one with at least:
Over-current protection
Over-temperature protection
Locked-rotor protection
Reverse polarity protection
