Components of gearbox:

Transmission Components

Gears: The core of the gearbox, and different tooth gears mesh to reduce speed and increase torque. Cylindrical gears are used for parallel shafts, with a simple structure and high efficiency; bevel gears are used for intersecting shafts and can change the direction of transmission; planetary gears have a compact structure, large transmission ratios, and strong load-bearing capacity.

Worm Gear and Worm: The worm is usually the driving component, and the worm gear is the driving component. It can achieve a large reduction ratio with reverse self-locking, but efficiency is low.

Shafts: Support transmission components and transmit torque. The design needs to consider strength, rigidity, and vibration characteristics.

Bearings: Support shaft rotation, reduce friction and wear and withstand radial and axial loads. They are classified into rolling and sliding bearings. Rolling bearings have low friction and are easy to start while sliding bearings are better at carrying and resisting shock loads.

Gearbox Housing

Acts as the outer shell, housing and supporting the transmission components. It must have sufficient strength and rigidity.

Commonly made from grey cast iron or cast steel. Grey cast iron is good for casting and vibration damping, while cast steel offers high strength, suitable for heavy loads.

The housing is typically designed with a horizontal split along the axis for easy disassembly and assembly of the shaft system. The bearing seat bolts are positioned near the bearing holes to ensure stability.

It includes a lubricating oil pool for lubrication and heat dissipation, with oil drain holes, inspection holes, etc., for easy maintenance.
