3 Phase Asynchronous Motor Features:

3 phase asynchronous motor, also known as an induction motor, is widely used in industry for its simple structure, reliable operation, and low cost. It works by generating a rotating magnetic field in the stator, which induces currents in the rotor, causing it to rotate. The speed of the rotor is slightly less than the speed of the rotating magnetic field in the stator, and this difference in speed is called slip.

3 phase asynchronous motors are categorized by their rotor construction, with the two main types being squirrel cage and wound rotor motors. Squirrel cage motors have a simple rotor construction, consisting of copper or aluminum bars that are short-circuited at each end by end rings. They are commonly used in applications where constant speed is required, such as in pumps and compressors.

Wound rotor motors have a more complex rotor construction, with a wound rotor that is connected to an external circuit through slip rings. This allows for greater control over the motor speed, with the ability to adjust the rotor resistance and therefore the slip. These motors are commonly used in applications where variable speed is required, such as in cranes and conveyors.
