Classification by shape features:

Bevel gear: used for transmission between intersecting axes, shape such as cone, gear teeth along the cone bus distribution, divided into straight teeth and bevel teeth two kinds, can withstand large torque, often used in automotive, aerospace and other fields.

Worm gear: used for vertical or inclined shaft transmission, worm gear tooth direction is spiral shape, worm tooth direction is opposite, high transmission efficiency and self-locking, often used for deceleration or growth transmission, such as turbo worm engine, reducer, etc.
